Fall Compost
Limited edition! This compost is made from manure and spoiled livestock feed. When it's gone it's gone.
This Fall Compost will work well for mulching around trees and perennials, incorporating into gardens, building no-dig garden beds, adding to sheet mulching layers, and mixing with sand or soil for raised beds. For lawns, we recommend Blue Collar Compost.
Due to the haylage we used, this batch of Fall Compost is lighter (ie fluffier) than our Blue Collar Compost and has better structure. It is a little higher in nitrogen and carbon, and lower in phosphorus. It is also lower in salts.
This compost can be used in higher quantities than Blue Collar Compost. It would work well for filling raised beds. We recommend mixing it roughly 50/50 with a sandy or loamy soil to start. See how it feels and adjust as needed. Water it well and make sure everything has plenty of moisture going into the fall. Bonus: add about 5% biochar to get the best soil you have ever had.
We blended it 50/50 with coco coir and it worked fine for starting seeds (unlike Blue Collar Compost). This is due to its stronger structure and lower salts. A 40% compost / 60% coir or peat blend would likely work better.
This compost will not do well as a fall lawn treatment as it is more fibrous, and lower in phosphorus (for building strong roots going into the fall).
